Treatment Methods

We practice Global Medicine which recognizes and integrates philosophies of healing from around the world.

All of our treatment and evaluation methods are nonforceful and noninvasive.

28 years of successfully treating thousands of patients, has led us to the selection and development of highly effective techniques.

These methods are capable of identifying and correcting conditions at their root cause.

We
use the latest approaches from multiple disciplines.

Including Meridian Therapy, Chiropractic, Chinese Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy, Herbology, Ayurveda, Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

The following are some of the treatment methods that we use:

Treatment Information Brochure

In August of 1980, I reluctantly attended a seminar that promised to introduce me to a revolutionary new treatment method. The concepts that I was exposed to were to change my life forever. That specific method of treatment, and more importantly the principles behind it, have formed the foundation for the treatment methods that I have embraced, pioneered, developed and continue to use at the Cherubino Health Center. I have lectured on the principles internationally and have personally cared for thousands of patients with the resulting treatments. After all this time I am still delighted by the amazing results that I continue to see on a day-to-day basis.

So what is the key to these methods and why do they work so well? First key, the human body is designed to be self-healing. Second key, our bodies are electrical in nature. Third key, we combine non-stimulatory treatments in a manner appropriate to the individual patient.

Working with these principles rather than against them, is the reason why some treatments work better than others. All of the treatments that we use at the center are capable of working with the body’s natural ability to heal itself. The way we use our treatments never forces the body to make changes; rather they afford the body the opportunity to function better. Only the body itself is capable of determining the rate at which it can heal. The human body is not an unintelligent machine. To the contrary, it is an intelligent self-healing organism that must be given the care, assistance and environment to accomplish the task of healing itself. Anyone who has any experience with organic gardening is aware that plants can only grow and thrive in the right environment. A gardener provides environment and support and the plants grow accordingly. It is similar with the people in so much as it is impossible to force health on the body.

A properly functioning body will automatically heal itself. In turn, conditions, diseases and their associated symptoms will begin to resolve. The fact of the matter is "you cannot force health on the body". If you try, you can oftentimes force a symptom or symptoms to change, but always at a price. You will sometimes exchange one set of symptoms for another and almost always fail to eliminate the cause of the problem in the process. Unless the body has healed a condition on it’s own it has simply traded one condition for another.

The human body, through the sensory nervous system, can be positively and healthfully affected. Similar to a computer, the nervous system can be reoriented and reprogrammed with the use of a variety of sensory stimuli. While a computer is reprogrammed by rewriting its computer code, the human nervous system responds to touch, pressure, electrical impulses, light (such as laser), magnetics, heat, cold, vibration, infrared, sound waves, movement etc., and reorients itself. Treatments that utilize these types of techniques can, with adequate duration and repetition, bring about permanent positive changes in the way that nerves function.

Most frequently asked questions:

1. How does treatment work?

2. Is treatment permanent?

Treatment vs. therapy: Treatments are used to  bring about specific corrective changes in the body’s nervous system.  Therapies, on the other hand, are used for relief of unwanted symptoms and physiological states.  To put it in simpler terms, treatments are capable of making long-term permanent changes, while therapies help relieve symptoms and allow the treatments to work more thoroughly and completely.

By sharing this limited information about the treatments that we utilize at the Cherubino Health Center, we are hoping to orient people to what for most of you is an entirely new subject.  As with any new way of looking at something, most people will quickly look to connect the dots by associating this new information with something that they already understand.  It is quite possible that with this new way of looking at alternative treatment it will be difficult or impossible to make those kinds of connections.   With that being said, we hope that the information that we are presenting is helpful and useful.  We encourage those of you who find it especially interesting to ask us about associated textbooks, institutes and other sources where you can learn more about the concepts and principles behind this view of health and healing.

It takes many years, perhaps a lifetime, to thoroughly understand the principles and concepts that form the foundation behind these treatment methods.  Please feel free to explore the other sources of information we have available including brochures, recordings, our web site (www.AskDrRon.com) or by asking to speak to one of our staff members.

Why Treatment?
I’ve always felt that it was most important to understand “Why” treatment was necessary in addition to “How” treatment works.  Human nature being what it is, people are always asking how treatment works.  Suffice it to say, the human nervous system is the connection between the world and us.  It is how we respond to the stresses of our life and in reality determines our level of health, resistance to disease and the conditions that we develop or avoid.  For more information concerning the nervous system and how it works please refer to the pamphlet entitled “Alternative Health Care -- How We See It”, a CD recording with the same title and information that we have available on a condition known as N.I.D, (Nerve Impulse Deficiency).

How treatment works:
The treatments that we use at the center work to improve the function of your nervous system.  This is done primarily by the use of touch as well as mechanical, electrical, light emitting, heat generating and vibration producing devices.  Various sensory inputs such as movement, auditory, visual and positional are also utilized.  The nervous system, and the body as a whole, responds to a myriad of sensory inputs which it is required to process in order to respond with appropriate motor output.  When operating properly and efficiently the human nervous system is capable of processing upwards to 100,000 sensory inputs per second.  The very health of the body is determined by the efficiency of its nervous system.  Therefore, “You Are Only As Healthy As Your Nervous System Is Functional”.

Treatments:

PET -- Pulse Energy Technique:
this technique combines various aspects of three disciplines, Bioenergetics, Meridian therapy (Needle Free Acupuncture) and ChiQuong.  Light pressure touch is applied over specific areas of the nervous system known as nerve pulse points.  Areas of under activity are balanced with areas of overactivity thereby bringing the nervous system into a state of improved communication.  The technique has been shown to restore these poorly functioning areas in such a way that in time allows the body to reproduce the positive effects of this treatment on its own.  Through improved communication, the central nervous system is able to rebalance, restore, reproduce and eventually maintain a state of optimal neurological function.  Restored neurological function allows the body to do what it was designed to do, heal itself.  Improved nerve function results in improved cell function, blood supply, lymphatic drainage, organ function, muscle and joint function as well as calming and stabilizing emotions, increasing brain function and clarity of thought, mental acuity and other cognitive abilities.
Pulse Energy Technique is often used in conjunction with other techniques and therapies such as KI Method, Meridian Therapies, Low Pulse Electrical Stimulation, Myofascial Release and Moist Heat.
Technique Administration: Patients remain fully clothed.  The technique is most often administered with the patient in the prone, facedown, position.  Depending on the needs of the patient and individual circumstances, it may also be performed while seated or standing.  For example, patients in wheelchairs are normally treated while seated.
Duration of technique: 5 to 10 minutes.

Chiropractic Techniques:
Bioenergetic Synchronization Technique, B.E.S.T. -- this is a well proven chiropractic technique that is capable of correcting vertebral subluxations and central and peripheral nerve dysfunction via the nerve and muscular system, without the use of any force. The unsurpassed effectiveness and safety of this technique make it the chiropractic treatment of choice for patients of all ages from newborns on up.  It is highly effective in the treatment of conditions involving the muscular system such as scoliosis, short leg syndrome, tension headaches, back and neck pain as well as nerve related conditions such as sciatica, numbness, paresthesia and various forms of dystrophy.
The technique uses light touch over specific areas of the nerve and muscular system and is usually administered in the prone, facedown, position.
Treatment time: 5 to 10 minutes.

KI Method: This technique is highly effective in restoring the normal flow of electrical energy to and from all areas of the body.  We have found this technique to be highly effective in integrating the function of the peripheral nervous system with that of the central nervous system.  It can be used as a stand-alone technique, as an adjunctive and supportive therapy and is an excellent choice for maintenance and preventative treatment regimens.
Treatment time: 15 - 20 minutes.

Meridian Therapies (Needle Free Acupuncture):
The Chinese speak of harmony, which is attained when balance exists within and around the body. Harmony and health go hand in hand. Chi, the Chinese word for energy, must be in proper balance in order for health to be present.
Meridian/acupuncture points overlap and correspond to specific neurological pathways. Imbalances in these energy pathways are identified and corrected by various means.  The practice of acupuncture utilizes a variety of methods to restore balance between meridians, ranging from the application of light touch to the use of electrical instrumentation on acupuncture points.
Electro Acupuncture -- Electro-Acupuncture involves treatment of specific acupuncture and trigger points on the body with small (milliamp/microamp) electrical impulses. These electrical impulses are applied by using specifically designed instruments which accurately locate and effectively treat specific acupuncture points. Treatment is safe and painless, making it appropriate for use with patients of any age. In our center, we have found that the therapeutic benefits resulting from the use of electro-acupuncture consistently exceed those achieved with the use of needles.

Laser Acupuncture -- Laser is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The term Laser Biostimulation refers to the use of low-powered laser to treat local areas or points on the skin. This procedure is effective for reduction of pain, acceleration of wound healing, acupuncture therapy, to name but a few applications.

Treatment Time: 5 to 20 Minutes.

CranioSacral Therapy -- CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and correcting problems affecting the craniosacral system, the environment in which the brain and spinal cord function. This manual therapy encourages the body’s natural healing mechanisms to improve the operation of the central nervous system, relieve the negative effects of stress, improve overall health and strengthen the body’s immune system.             The craniosacral system consists of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tailbone area. An imbalance or restriction in this system can potentially cause any number of problems with the body’s nervous system. Treatment with this approach is non-forceful with the practitioner generally applying only five grams of pressure. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of a nickel.
Treatment time: 15 - 20 Minutes.

Duration of Techniques: The time involved to properly perform each of these techniques varies depending on the desired outcome.  They can range from several minutes to 50 minutes per technique.
Supportive Therapies: Each of these therapies is supportive and assistive.  They enable treatments to work more effectively and completely, thereby reducing the amount of overall treatment needed. In cases of traumatic or long-standing injuries they are used for their biologic effect on tissue physiology.
Moist Heat: Hot packs are used to reduce muscle tension, pain and congestion.  When used for a period of 10 to 20 minutes they will promote increased blood circulation, decreased inflammation, increased lymphatic drainage and overall relaxation.
Cold Packs: Immediately following traumatic injury and in cases of long-standing inflammation, cold packs can favorably influence access blood flow to muscles and other tissues.
Low Pulse Electrical Stimulation: The use of very low electrical current is an excellent preparatory technique in cases where long-standing nerve impulse deficiency and muscular tension are present.  This technique is useful in 10 minute or longer periods to help reset the timing of localized areas of the nervous system.  Rubberized carbon pads which are moistened with a water-based hypoallergenic gel are applied to areas over spinal nerves.  The procedure is completely painless due to the low level of electrical current that is used.
Myofascial Release: Light pressure is applied to specific areas of the muscular system in order to regain neuromuscular balance.  In conjunction with specific treatment techniques,  this therapy facilitates the release of lactic acid and other toxins as well as helping to improve muscle tone by restoring the electrical interplay between nerves and muscles.
Manual Traction: A gentle but effective technique, manual traction helps to release congested and contracted muscle fibers.  This therapy is especially useful in the overall treatment of vertebral subluxations both acute and chronic, the resulting muscular tension and nervous system interference.  Gentle but firm pressure is applied with the hands in opposite directions over effected muscles.
