Dr. Ron’s Favorite Raw Carrot Juice Recipe

I have shared this recipe countless times on the Ask Dr. Ron Radio Show. It’s my old standby for what I consider making palatable raw carrot juice. I have been accused of being in a severe rut when it comes to this carrot juice recipe but it hasn’t dissuaded me from using it nine times out of ten when I am preparing raw juice.

I would also like to encourage any of the readers of this blog to share with me their favorite recipes for any kind of raw juice from a juice extractor that they are partial to.

For those that might be interested, one of my recent blogs addresses the reasons why raw carrot juice is so much more nutritious than its processed counterparts. (You can find that blog here)

Three Steps to Delicious Raw Carrot Cucumber Celery Juice

Step One – The Juice Extractor: begin with a juice extractor. This is an appliance that is capable of separating juice from pulp. Many machines today are designed to pulverize and blend and will technically not produce raw carrot juice but rather blended carrots. While I have nothing against these machines, this recipe is designed specifically using a juice extractor.

Step Two – Ingredients: The ingredients for this carrot juice recipe are simple. All ingredients are raw and organic if possible. Depending on how the vegetables look they can be simply rinsed and/or peeled if necessary.

The portions for this carrot juice recipe are as follows:

  1. 1 pound of raw carrots
  2. 1 large cucumber
  3. 2 or 3 long pieces of celery

Step Three – Feeding the juicer: depending on the juice extractor that you are using you may need to cut the vegetables to fit. I find that mine is much happier when I cut celery pieces into 2 or 3 inch lengths.

Long celery pieces tend to wrap around the blades of my juicer and inevitably increase the temperature of the raw carrot juice which I consider a definite negative. The less heat that the juice extractor process generates, the better. Bon appétit!
