CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a time-tested technique that evaluates and corrects problems related to the craniosacral system. It is a gentle by hand technique that affects the very environment in which the brain and spinal cord function.

This manual therapy encourages the body’s natural healing mechanisms to improve the operation of the central nervous system, relieve the negative effects of stress, improve overall health and strengthen the body’s immune system.

The craniosacral system consists of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face and mouth, which make up the cranium, down to the sacrum, or tailbone area.An imbalance or restriction in this system can potentially cause any number of problems with the body’s nervous system.Treatment with this approach is non-forceful with the practitioner generally applying only five grams of pressure. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of a nickel.

CranioSacral Therapy is practiced worldwide by doctors and therapists of all known disciplines including, medical doctors, doctors of chiropractic medicine, doctors of Oriental medicine, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, physical therapists, acupuncturists, massage therapists and other professional body workers.

TKM® Method

TKM Method® is a hands-on bodywork technique, with the practitioner, sequentially placing his or her hands lightly on two different and precise locations on the body (over clothing) at a time. This stimulates the body’s electrical energy to move, shift and rebalance.

This flow promotes better blood and lymphatic circulation, increased CNS (central nervous system) conductivity, and improved enzyme activity – all of which are necessary to promote healing, rejuvenate body systems and improve overall health.

This technique is highly effective in restoring the normal flow of electrical energy to and from all areas of the body. We have found this technique to be particularly effective in integrating the function of the peripheral nervous system with that of the central nervous system. It can be used as a stand-alone technique, or as an adjunctive and supportive therapy with techniques such as PET,  craniosacral therapy and therapeutic massage. It is also an excellent choice for maintenance and preventative treatment regimens.

Neuromuscular Massage

Neuromuscular massage is orthopedic in nature. It is designed to effect nerve, muscle and joint function while taking into consideration which muscle groups are contracted, weakened, and inhibited. This type of medical massage is very specialized and is performed in concert with recommendations from your doctor.

If you are already receiving craniosacral therapy or therapeutic massage this can be a valuable tool to target stubborn musculoskeletal patterns.

Therapeutic Massage

A variety of muscle therapy techniques, including Shiatsu, trigger point therapy, myofascial release and sports massage, are used to help promote healing of the muscles and surrounding tissues. These therapeutic massage techniques also benefit the circulatory and lymphatic systems, thereby promoting overall health and wellness. Reduction of stress and tension is also another direct benefit.

Relaxation Therapy

Techniques such as craniosacral therapy and therapeutic massage can also be great stress relievers.

NeuroMeridian Integration (NMI)

NMI draws upon the principles of Chinese acupuncture and meridian therapy, Japanese energy balancing, therapeutic massage, cranial and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics therapy and pulse energy technique.

NMI is a by hand, non-forceful, technique that can be successfully used as a standalone approach or in combination with other techniques such as craniosacral therapy or therapeutic massage, used here at Cherubino Health Center.
